On April 28th, the St. Thomas Auditorium was transformed into two magical worlds: the enchanted island of Neverland and the colorful land of Oz. Our 2nd grade students brought to life two beloved classics — Peter Pan and The Wizard of Oz — in an unforgettable theatrical celebration of English, imagination, and Augustinian values. 🧚♂️🌈
Led by their dedicated teachers, Jarid Álvarez (groups 2°A and 2°B) and Mariana Cedillo (group 2°C), the young performers worked tirelessly for several months. They memorized lines, practiced pronunciation, and embodied characters with a level of commitment and enthusiasm that left everyone in awe. What made their performance even more special was the heart behind it: both stories carry timeless lessons about friendship, family, courage, and loyalty — values deeply rooted in our Augustinian identity.
From the mischievous Peter Pan and the fearsome Captain Hook to the brave Dorothy and the tender-hearted Tin Man, each child brought their character to life with confidence, joy, and remarkable stage presence. Parents and teachers watched with pride as their children expressed complex emotions, delivered lines clearly in English, and supported one another backstage — a true demonstration of teamwork and growth.
The audience was treated to vibrant costumes, memorable dialogues, and a palpable sense of accomplishment. Parents beamed with happiness seeing their children shine under the lights, playing unforgettable roles like Wendy, The Lost Boys, Tinker Bell, the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion, and many more.
The success of this event is a testament to the hard work of our students, the dedication of Teachers Jarid Álvarez and Mariana Cedillo, and the ongoing support of families who believe in the power of bilingual education. Together, they showed that learning English goes far beyond the classroom — it lives on stage, in stories, and in the courage to express oneself in another language.
We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who made this possible. To our 2nd graders: you have made us very proud. 🌟
